Aslan started off as a Sunday morning group at Tonbridge Baptist Church to meet the needs of families with children with special needs. It has grown and evolved over the last 10 years and still provides a fortnightly place for children with special needs to come, play games and be taught about the Bible no matter their capabilities.
Jackie, the leader of the group (who also happens to be my mum!), wrote a specific curriculum for the group for 4 different levels of ability as there wasn't much material suited to the children she had. She eventually covered 3 years of material and decided that she wanted to give it away to anyone else who wanted to do a similar sort of thing. The best vehicle for this was a website, so Jackie asked me whether I could create one for her, we spent some time working out what was needed and how we might accomplish it and then launched in 2018. While this served many people well and after thousands of downloads, by the beginning of 2022 we realised it could do with some updates.
I redesigned and re-built the site with extra functionality like a signup and dashboard for members, gated content so that you would have to sign up in order to download, a much easier user experience, the ability to search for specific topics plus the functionality to track what was being downloaded through a user friendly client-side dashboard.
I’m absolutely delighted with what Dan has achieved in this 2nd edition of the Aslan website! I was really pleased when he designed the first website in 2018 but am blown away by the creative ideas and improvements he’s added this time around. Nothing has been too much trouble and he’s been so patient with me when I haven’t quite understood things! He’s done a brilliant job and I wholeheartedly recommend Oodle Design to anyone looking for a website designer, even if I am a little biased being his mum!
